Bootleg Bill & Josh Owens from the hit Discovery Channel series "Moonshiners" will be in town on Friday, April 12th. They're the special guests at a 3-band show at the Galaxy Lounge in Johnson City featuring the Beitthemeans from Birmingham, Alabama. Jake Cox and Bristol's own The Shifters will open the show. A.C.'s East Tennesee Promotions has put together this great night of shine-lovin' entertainment.
Tickets for this event are going fast! They'll cost you $17 at the door, if they last that long. You can purchase them in advance for $15 online through the Galaxy Lounge ticket outlet.
"Moonshiners" premiered on the Discovery Channel in December, 2011. It closed its sophomore season this January with a series record of 3.87 million viewers. It is regularly the top broadcast in all of cable television on Wednesday nights.
Josh and Bill joined the cast in season two. They work on an underground still at the site of a music festival in South Carolina, inspired by their deceased friend Barney Barnwell's dream of building such a still.
When he's not making shine, Bootleg Bill plays fiddle with several local country music bands. He also plays guitar, banjo, and drums. Bill grew up in North Carolina, but now makes shine in South Carolina.
Josh Owens is a lumberjack, biker, and moonshiner who splits his time between South and North Carolina. Long before he became a moonshiner, Josh had a career as a professional superbike and motocross racer. Now he rides a motorcycle with his dog "Cutie Pie" riding on the handlebars. Cutie Pie will also be at the show, but we're not sure if she'll sign any autographs.
This show might also be one for the ladies. A quick internet search over to the Josh Owens official Discovery Channel bio will yield comments such as "slap me naked and hide my clothes this man is gorgeous!!:))" and "When we get married, I'll ride behind you, so Cutiepie can still be in front!" Unfortunately, we have no information on Josh's relationship status. You'll have your chance to ask him yourself at the Galaxy Lounge on April 12th!
