Beer lovers from the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas will arrive at Mellow Mushroom in Johnson City for the 2013 installment of the Thirsty Orange Brew Extravaganza this Saturday, April 13th. Over 150 obscure beers will be available for attendees to sample. Many of the available craft brews won't be found anywhere else!
Breweries from around the region will have their ales on hand, including Oskar Blues, Calfkiller Brewing Company, Greenman Brewery, Highland Brewing Company, Moccasin Bend Brewing Company, Sweetwater Brewing Company, Studio Brew, Wolf Hills Brewing Company, Saw Works Brewing Company and Smoky Mountain Brewery. This year's featured brewery is Wicked Weed Brewery out of Asheville, NC.
Organizers of the event have a full day of enjoyable activities planned like the pint glass swap, the iron brewer challenge, and the beer booth. Photos from the beer booth will be available immediately as a photo strip and posted later on the Thirsty Orange Facebook page, where the 2012 beer booth photos can currently be found.
This year's event will last from 2:00-6:30pm. VIP ticket holders can arrive for early access at 12:30pm. General Admission tickets are available for $32.50 and can be purchased online through Ticket Bud or at Mellow Mushroom. The Thirsty Orange Brew Extravaganza benefits Girls on the Run in Northeast TN. It is a rain or shine event and tickets are non-refundable. Attendees must be 21 years of age or older.
Three local bands have signed up to play this event. They include Wise Old River, Demon Waffle and Last In Line. This year's event has added an impressive list of sponsors, including 101.5 WQUT, ABC-19 WKPT, VIP SEEN Magazine, and Smith Brothers Harley-Davidson.
